The first decade of the current month was marked for the farmers of the Altai Republic by the beginning of the process of harvesting feed for cattle.
It is reported that the start of the campaign took place on the fields included in the assets of all farms in the region.
It will not be superfluous to note that in the current season the facilities participating in the forage harvesting campaign intend to provide the republican livestock with at least three hundred and sixty thousand tons of various types of feed.
To achieve this goal, grasses and other agricultural fodder crops from territories with a total area exceeding one hundred eighty-five thousand hectares will be collected.
It is noteworthy that the share of land with grain crops in the total area is over seven thousand hectares. And annual grasses for feed production occupy an area of forty-six and a half thousand hectares. Perennial grasses are located on open spaces with an area of fifty-four thousand hectares, and the rate of natural hayfields is seventy-eight thousand hectares.
It is important to add that, according to preliminary estimates, about four hundred thirty thousand individuals of cattle will winter in the region. And in order to provide them with food, Altai agrarians expect to harvest at least one hundred and fifty-five thousand tons of fodder - both coarse and juicy.
In general, it is planned to provide each individual with about four centners of feed units for the winter season.
