In February 2020, Crocus Expo IEC, with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, Rosselkhoznadzor and the National Union of Milk Producers, successfully hosted the International Exhibition of Equipment for the Production of Milk and Dairy Products DairyTech 2020.
Dairytech - This is the only international exhibition in Russia where a full range of equipment for milk processing and dairy production is presented.
This year the exhibition was visited by 9% more specialists engaged in the production of milk and dairy products than in 2019, which is 31% of all visitors to the exhibition or 1,511 unique visitors. In total, the exhibition for 4 days of work was visited by 5,442 specialists representing 76 regions of Russia and 38 countries of the world. The largest number of visitors was traditionally represented by the leading milk processing regions - Moscow, Leningrad and Voronezh regions, the Republic of Tatarstan, Krasnodar Territory, Udmurt Republic and Altai Territory. Experts represented both the leading companies in the dairy products market: Wimm-Bill-Dann, Danone, Hohland Russland, Milkom, the Voronezh Dairy Plant, as well as producers from regions quite distant from the capital, Amurskaya region, Kamchatka Territory and the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).
The exhibition is also traditionally visited by leading distributors of equipment and materials. This year they accounted for 20% of the total number, or about 1000 visitors. Manufacturers from Russia and the near abroad came to get acquainted with the latest equipment and materials for cheese production from world leaders - this is 600 visitors - specialists (12% of the total). Visitors presented themselves as large producers: Wimm-Bill-Dann, Cheese Starodubsky ”,“ Savensia ”,“ Savushkin Product ”,“ Kiprino ”, Sarmich Cheese Factory, as well as manufacturers from the regions: Dairy Factory“ Giaginsky ”,“ Tula Dairy Factory ”and others. The exhibition is also visited by beginner cheese makers in search of new opportunities for the development of production.
As the visitors of the exhibition noted, only at DairyTech it is possible in 4 days to get acquainted with the widest range of the latest equipment and proven solutions from leading Russian and foreign manufacturers to accurately solve production problems on the eve of the hot season.
The exhibition exposition is segmented into product categories and covers the full cycle of milk processing and milk production: from milking equipment to final packaging.
This year, the exhibition was attended by over 200 leading Russian and international manufacturers and distributors from 12 countries.

Company "Prom-Pack", a regular participant of the exhibition, increased the area of its exposition and presented a wide range of formats and volumes of Gable Top packages and aseptic filling equipment. The company held negotiations with regular customers, and also entered into agreements with new enterprises from Mongolia, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan.
Galdi presented the latest generation Galdi RG270 SDUC filling machine at the exhibition. Over the 4 days of the exhibition, negotiations were held with more than 50 companies from Russia, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Ukraine.
TAURAS-PHOENIX presented at DairyTech 2020 4 models of filling and packaging equipment for the dairy industry. During the exhibition, more than 200 applications for the manufacture of equipment were collected.
Business program
For visitors in 12 conference halls, 12 different conferences, seminars, workshops, round tables and presentations were held devoted to the most pressing issues of concern to manufacturers, processors and suppliers today. The professional audience of the DairyTech 2020 business program amounted to more than 1000 specialists representing the leading regions of Russia and the countries of the Near Abroad, or 20% of all visitors to the exhibition. The discussion was attended by 85 speakers from among the largest manufacturers, representatives of retail, state authorities and industry unions.
The greatest positive feedback from visitors was received by such topics as the introduction of the Mercury system and digital marking, the launch of new products, the healthy lifestyle segment and environmental regulation, the cheese market in Russia and the world, law enforcement practices and technical regulation.

Traditionally, the exhibition and the business program were supported by representatives of state bodies (Rospotrebnadzor in the Moscow Region, Eurasian Economic Commission) and the industry union (Soyuzmoloko).
For the first time, consulting has joined the business program: speakers from Euromonitor International, Nielsen Russia, Deloitte, Streda Consulting shared their expertise.
Special guests of the February 18th Plenary Session on growth points in the dairy industry were Olga Abramova, Minister of Agriculture of the Udmurt Republic, and Artem Belov, General Director of Soyuzmoloko.
The special guest of the Cheese Conference on February 20 was Gregory Rose, an expert on technologies and ingredients for cheese making at Chr.Hansen.
On February 18, as part of the Plenary Session “Growth Points, New Products and Technologies in the Dairy Industry”, a speech was given by Alexander Krivolapov, General Director of Tetra Pak in Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Central Asia and the Caucasus, who shared his forecasts for the development of the industry in the coming years. According to Alexander Krivolapov, in the coming years, special attention will be paid to creating an economy with a low carbon footprint and a closed cycle economy, as well as reducing the environmental impact of production.
This approach correlates with consumer trends: as noted by Dina Epifanova, Head of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainable Development at Tetra Pak in Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Central Asia, the Caucasus and Southeast Europe, the segment of consumers who currently choose the environmentally friendly product and packaging is growing rapidly.
Tetra Pak experts emphasized that such a request is a great opportunity for retailers to begin to formulate an actual competitive offer and create a customized product in which the buyer is interested.
Summing up the event, the General Director of Soyuzmoloko and the moderator of the plenary session “Growth Points, New Products and Technologies in the Dairy Industry” Artyom Belov, noted: “We discussed all the key challenges that the dairy industry should face in 2020. We talked about technology, about demand, about efficiency, about export, about changing visitor preferences, about competition with alternative products. It was possible to reveal all these topics, and it seems to me that we managed to substantively communicate on the subject of how the dairy industry will develop. ”
February 19 at the Plenary session “Healthy lifestyle and eco-friendly trend as part of the strategy of dairy enterprises. New Products and Successful Implementation Experience ”was delivered by Norman Gyrow, foreign expert, Marketing Director for Europe at SIG Combibloc.
In his speech, Mr. Girow cited the company's statistics on consumer preferences: “Today, 86% of Russian consumers are willing to pay more for green products in the future. At the same time, only 14% of those who believe that such products are easy to find on the shelf. Here, as we see, there is a kind of imbalance - many are ready, but few know how to find these products, ”he said.
