Unusual greenish-colored chicken eggs appeared at the central market of Lutsk at a price of 50 UAH per dozen. As it turned out, these are eggs of hens of the Araucan breed.

Enterprising traders speculate on human ignorance and belief in miracles. While a dozen ordinary household eggs in Lutsk cost around 25 UAH, they sell their goods for at least 50 UAH.

Sellers attribute such a high price to the fact that green eggs supposedly do not contain cholesterol, although this is far from the case. In the Volyn region there are farms that are engaged in the cultivation of chickens of the Araucan breed. It is they who carry these eggs of an unusual color.

Araucana is a breed of chickens native to South America, named after the tribe of the Indians. A characteristic feature of these birds is their eggs, which can be turquoise, greenish or light blue in color. The brightness of the color of eggs depends on air temperature. The higher it is, the brighter the color. In composition, these eggs are no different from ordinary chicken eggs and do not have any special properties.

Speculation about the "healing" of araucana eggs is not a Ukrainian invention. The Americans bought them for $ 7 per dozen, which is 10 times more than the price of ordinary eggs. In modern Russia, this myth is also strong, but science does not support popular rumor about the exceptional usefulness of this product.
