From May 1 to May 5, 2019, as well as from May 9 to 12 of the current year, residents of the Russian Federation rest from working days as part of the May holidays.
Experts from the All-Russian Center for the Study of Public Opinion conducted a survey among Russian citizens and found that more than 60% of respondents intend to spend long weekends at home. About 35% of respondents said that they would spend almost the entire period of their vacations outside the city, in their summer cottages.
It has long been customary that holidays in Russia are directly related to plentiful feasts and generous treats, which practically do not appear in the diet of Russians on ordinary days. And in order to get out of the festive gastronomic “zagul” without prejudice to their health and as quickly as possible to establish a healthy and balanced diet, nutritionists give a number of recommendations.
So, the Moscow doctor Lidia Ionova recommends enriching the post-holiday menu with vegetables: for lunch you can give preference to light vegetable soup, and for dinner treat yourself to a salad of several types of vegetables. As for meat and poultry, it is better to replace them with legumes in the diet for a while - this will relieve the post-holiday gastrointestinal tract. Given that domestic seasonal vegetables are still not sold in the middle zone of the Russian Federation, it is best to opt for frozen legumes (green beans, etc.) and cook them by stewing in herbs and spicy spices. Such a dish will saturate an overloaded organism with useful antioxidants, the expert is sure.
