In the village of Tavria, Skadovsky district, Kherson region, farmer Sergey Afanasievsky set about reviving a peanut plantation. The agrarian became the only one in the region who grows this crop on an industrial scale.
Peanuts were previously grown in the Golopristan and Belozersky districts of the region. Now, the revival of peanut plantations engaged in Sergei Ananasievsky. Last year, he made the first experimental planting on an area of 100 hectares and received a crop of 2.5 t / ha.
The agrarian himself says that this is a low indicator and you can grow twice as many fruits. According to him, a low yield was obtained due to lack of experience and technology. For the new season, the farmer is much better prepared. He purchased quality peanut seeds and a device for digging it out in Bulgaria, as well as a US-made combine. Sergei Afanasievsky himself completed an internship at a specialized institute near Plovdiv. The entrepreneur is convinced that with the correct setting of the production process and marketing, growing peanuts will be very profitable. Indeed, the food industry of Ukraine annually uses hundreds of tons of this product, and the demand for it is constantly growing. Since Ukraine has not yet grown peanuts, they had to buy it at a price that reached $ 2 / kg.
“Therefore, if you balance production costs and establish good yields, it will be even more profitable to grow peanuts on irrigated lands than vegetables and corn,” the agrarian is convinced.
