An unusual farmer lives in the Kiev region: in addition to environmentally friendly vegetables and greens, a Ukrainian grows "grandfather varieties" of cucumbers and tomatoes on his fields.
Enthusiastic farmer Andrei Vdovichenko today focuses on those types of vegetable crops that are now very rarely found on sale. But in Soviet times, these vegetables were at the peak of popularity among the mass consumer and were considered the latest selection achievement.
In his specialty, Andrei is far from rural life, but about two years ago he acutely wanted to delve into the details of farming.
“I had no idea how the greenhouses operate,” Vdovichenko admits. - Today, many organic crops grow in my greenhouses. And the greenhouses themselves were built in accordance with all environmental standards: I used only glass, wood and metal during the construction! ”

“The achievements of foreign breeders are, of course, good,” says Andrei. “But at the moment it’s more interesting for me to return to the long-forgotten, and once very popular vegetables.”
Why is this choice made by Vdovichenko? It's simple: in modern varieties, the farmer can not find those taste and healthy qualities that vegetables were rich in 30-50 years ago.
Seeds of "grandfather" varieties Andrey searches for all over Ukraine and mixes them with modern eco-varieties, wishing to achieve the taste of cucumbers and tomatoes "like from childhood".
