Private companies have decided to overcome one of the main obstacles to agricultural innovation in Brazil - the ability to connect to the Internet. 8 companies came together to support farmers and cover another 5 million hectares. with 4G connectivity nationwide during 2019
Brazil has 5.07 million. This has prompted Agco, Climate FieldView, CNH Industrial, Jacto, Nokia, Solinftec, TIM and Trimble to create an initiative called Conectar Agro. The project seeks to establish a 700 MHz signal nationwide.
“TIM wants to break the old paradigm and show what is feasible locally with a reliable, open, scalable and global solution for mobile communications. Thus, we solve a hidden problem in the agribusiness sector. Despite the heavy use of technology, he lacks connectivity, ”says Rafael Marquez, TIM Brazil Corporate Marketing Director.
The 4G signal connects people because it provides access to the Internet, which is not available in some types of radio frequencies. According to TIM, this technology already covers 700 thousand ha in rural areas.
Conectar Agro is therefore committed to helping farmers with difficulties. It will provide digital communication with customers and suppliers, access to new technologies, reduce problems with the processing and monitoring of field data, as well as the loss of time and productivity.
Conectar Agro will open the door to Brazilian agribusiness innovation, benefiting other sectors that are also losing opportunities due to lack of connectivity.
