More and more varieties of plums appear on the Ukrainian market, but prices, even at wholesale outlets in the country, do not please the consumer at all. The plum yield this year is the smallest over the past 3 years, which affects the quantity of supply and leads to higher prices, Info-Shuvar shares information.
Due to adverse weather conditions, a plum crop failure is observed this year. The spread of scab also did not play in favor of fruit. Their presentation was affected by the disease.
The country's wholesale markets today mainly sell plums grown in the Chernivtsi region and the southern regions of the country. The largest wholesale market in Western Ukraine, ORSP "Shuvar" offers small plums at 20-25 UAH / kg (0.68-0.85 euro / kg), large plums are already sold for more than 30 UAH / kg (1.03 euro / kg )
Farms of the Chernivtsi region sell plums at a price of 15 UAH / kg, which is 0.51 euro / kg.
In addition to locally grown plums, fruits from Moldovan and Serbian gardeners are also sold at the Shuvar market sites. Their price is no different from the prices of Ukrainian products.
Recall that in 2017, due to a significant difference in cost, Ukraine was able to export 8 thousand tons of plums to Poland.
