In April of this year, Ukraine again reduced export volumes and, at the same time, significantly increased volumes of apple imports.
This situation in the Ukrainian market has been observed for two months in a row. At the same time, during April of this year, Ukraine purchased apples in other countries even more than in April 2018.
As Info-Shuvar experts predict, this trend will not only continue, but will intensify in May. This is due to the current shortage of high quality apples and the constant increase in product prices. In the first week of May, Info-Shuvar experts registered the largest jump in prices for Ukrainian apples. As of May 8 this year, apples are sold at the price of 7-14 UAH / kg, which is € 0.24-0.47 / kg, at the largest wholesale market in the West of Ukraine, ORSP "Shuvar". This price is twice as high as the price at the beginning of April. At the same time, Ukrainian apples are still one and a half times less than they were in the first days of May last year.
Earlier it was reported that this year's apple harvest may be much less than in the record year 2018. Recent vagaries of weather contributed to a decrease in productivity, which prevented pollination of apple tree flowers. And late frosts in several regions of the country led to the death and shedding of ovaries.
