A real shortage of cherries is observed in Ukrainian markets due to adverse weather established in the spring and early summer of 2019.
According to agricultural analysts, this year the picking of this berry will begin ten days later than in 2018. According to experts, this year the supply of cherries is much lower than in the past and in 2017, when the smallest cherry crop was harvested.
A poor harvest of cherries affected its value: currently it is sold at fairly high prices - 40-50 UAH / kg. Recall that in 2018, cherries were sold at a price of about 10 UAH / kg. In 2017, with a record low yield, about 20 UAH / kg was requested for the berry.
According to experts, one of the main suppliers of cherries to Ukraine is Poland. But this year, too, she was left without a crop due to the weather. This will increase the popularity of frozen cherries, which Ukrainians will be able to buy in winter at a low price, given its present value.
In addition, last year's reserves of berries were preserved in Ukraine, that is, we can’t talk about cherry collapse.
It is noteworthy that in the Ukrainian markets cherries are also sold at high prices. Merchants offer some varieties of cherries at 100 UAH / kg. Other prices for other fruits and berries are not encouraging.
