On the expanses of the Gusevsky urban district, which is located in the Kaliningrad region, a quarantine regime was recently introduced.
The reason for this was a preventive campaign aimed at preventing the spread of a dangerous infection (African swine fever virus) from one of the pig farms in the region.
It is reported that the agricultural enterprise on which the virus broke out is called the Baltic Meat Company Three and is located near the Tamanskoe settlement. The African swine fever virus was detected on the territory of the pig farm on August 23, 2019. On the same day, the enterprise introduced quarantine conditions.
It will not be superfluous to note that specialists confirmed the presence of ASF virus in a pig breeding enterprise as part of microbiological studies on the basis of an interdepartmental veterinary laboratory in the Kaliningrad region.
Local experts made their verdict: in the biomaterial of animals that died at the Baltic Meat Company Three, the presence of the African swine fever genome was recorded.
How long the quarantine regime will operate in the enterprise and in the region is not reported at the moment.
