The end of March of this year was marked by price fluctuations in live bait pigs. This week the average indicator lost 1% and fell below 40 UAH / kg.

At the same time, the results of monitoring the mood of the operators of the Ukrainian pork market indicate that in early April the downward movement of domestic quotes will stop, the Association “Pig Breeders of Ukraine” said in a statement.

During the last week of March, the range of procurement prices shifted downward. Most consignments of goods were purchased at a price of 38.5-40.5 UAH / kg, although sometimes both lower and higher prices for selling live bait were found. Representatives of meat processing enterprises note that the supply of live bait in the market today is more than demand on him. The slaughter weight of animals exceeds 110-115 kg, and the implementation is characterized by lethargy.

Despite this, manufacturers and processors are of the opinion that in early April prices for live weight pork will not decrease. Suppliers of live bait pigs and some purchasers believe that a month before Easter, the price of live bait will begin to rise.

Representatives of meat processing enterprises predict an increase in the activity of procurers in the second half of the month. Meat processing plants have already drawn up stocks of raw materials for the production of delicious meat products for the Easter holidays, and weather conditions do not yet allow the start of the season of outings.
