In the second half of April 2019 prices in the bait market returned to last year's level.

So, during the 16th week, the purchase prices of pigs of slaughter conditions ranged from 49-52 UAH / kg. According to the monitoring of purchase prices for pork live weight, which is carried out by the Association “Pig Breeders of Ukraine”, the average mark this week reached the level of 50.4 UAH / kg, which is only slightly inferior to the average price a week before Easter last year.

A lively preparation of meat market operators for the Easter holidays and hopes for active implementation of picnics during the long holiday weekend allowed the purchase price to continue the upward movement. Therefore, live bait suppliers this week were able to sell consignments 3-6 UAH / kg more expensive than a week earlier, and the average purchase price rose by 11.9%.

However, market players do not expect further price spikes. According to most operators, during the last week of April, the price of live bait market will strengthen at the achieved level, and possible changes in quotations of individual suppliers will not be significant.

So, the majority of participants in the Association of "Meat Industry" expects that the price of pork procurement next week will be in the range of 49-51 UAH / kg. Therefore, we can say that the Ukrainian market synchronized with the European one, where a more calm price trend is expected next week.
