Important! Watermelons should be carefully consumed with inflammation of the pancreas. The use of this sweet juicy pulp and jam from the crust is permissible in the chronic form of the disease, and only during the period of remission. Depending on the reactions of the body, it will be possible to eat from 150 to 1500 g of pulp.
Therefore, when choosing a watermelon, you should pay attention to the following:
- Do not buy such berries from the ground. The outlet must be equipped with a canopy and a pallet, not stand on the highway.
- Watermelons should be chosen without damage, cracks and dents, suspicious spots.
- Stripes on the surface of the peel should be clearly defined. If they are washed out, then this is a signal of an excess of nitrates.
- A ripe yellow spot and a dry yellowed tail will signal the ripeness of the watermelon. The peel of a ripened fetus is not easy to pierce with a fingernail.
- It is best to choose medium fruits weighing 5-7 kg.
For starters, you can buy only one watermelon and test at home:
- Cut the fruit, and pay attention to the flesh. Yellowish or white thick streaks will indicate that the manufacturer has abused nitrates.
- Throw a piece of pulp into a glass of water. If the water has acquired a bright pink color, then this is a nitrate product.
If the purchased fruit has successfully passed all the tests, then at the selected point you can buy another product. Before making jam, wash the watermelon, cut it with a sharp knife into slices and cut the flesh from them. If there is no desire to eat it, then you can make jam from it. From the peels you need to cut the green skin and cut into small pieces of the same size.
